KONGOBYOE SADAMORI 1334 - 1346

Reisen Sadamori of the Kongobyoe school of Shikuzen who were noted for supplying swords to the warrior monks, there armies, Kyushu Daimyo's and their vassels. During the attempted evasion of the Mongol forces of Kubilai Khan in 1274 and 1281, this particular sword is illustrated in the recently published book Swordsmith of the Kongobyoe available through The Japanese Sword Society of Canada.
The Boshi is Hakikake style. A magnificent work of art with Horimono of two men praying to the Sun God with outstretched arms. Koshirae mounts for an early Tachi.
