Moritsuna was a descendant of the Moritaka line of Smiths. He is the son of first generation Moritaka. His swords were mainly Katana after completing his apprenticeship. He was assigned to produce and care for swords of the various shrines and temples.
His workmanship is founded on well established principals of swordsmanship producing works that follow the principal of not bending or breaking in combat situations. Few of his works are available for study. This is a rare specimen. The swords of the Kongobyoe unlike the art swords were designed and made to withstand battle fatigue during the period of individual combat.
