EDO ISHIDO TSUNEMITSU

1624 - 1688

A Smith of the Edo Ishido Group or school produced mainly Katana and Wakisashi in The Bizen tradition producing swords similar to the old Ichimonji but are easily recognizable by the Shinto shape.

This particular sword is O-Suriage and machiokur. It is well grained, Ko-Mokume, Ji-Nie and Utsuri. The Jigane is beautifully clear. The Hamon is in the Nie Deki Choji Midare with Fukuro Choji. Ashi, Yo, Sunagashi, and Kinsuji. The Boshi is in Notare ending in short Maru.
