SWORD #245-51

AWA (KAIFU) UJIYOSHI SAKU

1497 - 1507

NBTHK HOZON TOKEN PAPERS

This particular Katana of the Kaifu school and this Smith is the first I have seen in the 75 years of my studies. It is in this respect rare and a unique Katana. The Kitai is well grained, outstanding combination of Masame and Itame forming Ayasuge Hada pattern, there's and O-Kissaki and a whitish Utsuri. The Temperline is a basic shallow Notare with the odd Gunome here and there. There is Hotsure and Ni-Ju-Ba. The Boshi begins with Gunome but becomes Ichimai. The Nakago is O-Suriage, Mumei NBTHK attribution Uji Yoshi. It comes with a fine Koshirae which has NBTHK papers and Shirasaya. A very unique Katana. I highly recommend.
