~~It was used in the defence of ports, bridges, dockyards and other war related facilities. Total production is estimated at around 2000 muskets but records indicate 827 or so delivered of these. I have only seen 14 in original condition.

NZ-114 RAD Leader's Dagger

 

Authorized for RAD leaders and replaced the earlier 1934 pattern hewer, which remained authorized for wear by subordinate ranks.

Year adopted: 1937

The pommel, crossguard and scabbard were initially silver plate, while subsequent production pieces were constructed of aluminum. The two-piece plastic grips varied from white or ivory to a dark orange. A large sculptured eagle head appears on the pommel and the RAD spade and wheat stalk insignia is featured on the langet. The blade resembles the bolo shape of the 1934 pattern hewer.
